Help Us Plant 10,000 Trees By Friday!

April 19, 2011

Here’s a surprise: To plant a tree, you don’t need gardening gloves, a shovel, or even a plot of land. All you need to plant a tree in the next few days is $1 and a desire for change.

That’s because we’re partnering with our friends at Plant With Purpose to plant 10,000 trees ($10,000) by Earth Day  on April 22. They have received a generous matching pledge which will double any amount donated.

The vision of Plant With Purpose is to partner with rural farming communities around the world to combat poverty and bring spiritual renewal through reforestation, agroforestry, and microfinance projects. Planting trees is an excellent way to accomplish this vision because trees are powerful tools that can transform the lives of the poor by improving soil and water quality and providing income sources for poor rural families

We’d all like to serve the 2.6 billion people living on less than $2 a day; providing trees for them to plant in their communities is one way we can do that. In many regions where land has been deforested, reforestation and sustainable agroforestry techniques rejuvenate local soil and water resources. Crops flourish in this newly productive environment, providing enough for families to eat and surplus for them to sell at market so they can send their children to school or start a small business. Even one tree, costing only $1, can go a long way toward restoring rural landscapes and villages.

Here is how you can help:

1. Donate trees. For only $1 you can plant a tree and literally save lives. Go to to donate.
