Merry Christmas from Flourish! We’re taking time to celebrate the “firstborn over all creation,” so in lieu of a regular “Deep Down Things” post, we invite you to enjoy this:
Dr. Bruce Ware, Professor of Christian Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, has written a book for parents and teachers of children on the fundamentals of the Christian faith, titled Big Truths for Young Hearts: Teaching and Learning the Greatness of God. In a section of the book called “God Has Made Himself Known,” Dr. Ware introduces the concept of revelation through a powerful exploration of God’s presence in creation. He writes, “When you look closely at a flower, for example, you can see the knowledge and wisdom and beauty of God . . . All of its beauty, and each of its parts, has come to be because God has designed just exactly how it would grow from that seed to the full flower. Indeed, God’s knowledge is vast, his wisdom is beyond our ability to understand, and his beauty is shown in all of the beautiful flowers, butterflies, trees, and mountains of our world.”
Although this writing is geared toward the teaching of children, it is worth reading to be reminded of the attributes, as they are apparent in creation, of the God who gave us the gift of his Son. You can read a larger excerpt of this book at www.Christianity.com.
