We have a 28 year old Maytag washer and dryer. In the 28 years we've owned them, we have replaced the light bulb in the dryer once and the lint trap once. That's it. We typically try to wash only full loads. Does it make better environmental stewardship sense to keep them or replace them with new Energy Star units? Seems like keeping these out of the landfill, durability issues, etc make me think keeping them is better. Does anyone have a credible comparison?
